Former Sony Devs Join New Team

When Sony announced the closure of Zipper Interactive this March, my heart skipped a beat in surprise. I don’t think anyone was expecting Zipper to close.

Zipper Interactive are known for making a range of Playstation exclusive titles such as SOCOM, MAG and the Vita’s Unit 13.

Announced yesterday, a couple of former Zipper developers are lacing up their boots again in preparation to begin working on new tactical shooter, Takedown.

The guys in question are Zipper artist, Mark Nicolino and gameplay engineer, Reed Gonsalves. They will join a small team which has already recruited a number of ex-Ubisoft and ex-Microsoft developers.

The team’s head, Christian Allen, released the following statement, “While it was sad news when Sony announced the Zipper was closing, we immediately got in touch with many former Zipper folks to talk with them about working on Takedown”.

Allen also said, “Their experience creating quality shooters on a difficult platform will help us immensely in creating the focused, hardcore, cqb, tactical experience that our fans expect.”

No word yet if Takedown will be an exclusive title or not, we’ll keep you updated.
